Postal Power of Attorney
A postal power of attorney authorises a designated person to receive post on behalf of the principal. It is deposited with the Austrian post office and enables the authorised representative to accept letters, parcels and RSb items.
Explanation
The postal power of attorney is a formal document deposited with the competent post office. It authorises the representative to accept all postal items addressed to the principal, including RSb letters and registered mail. The power of attorney can be granted for a limited period or indefinitely and can be revoked at any time. A valid photo ID of both parties is required to issue it. The postal power of attorney generally also covers RSa letters, unless the item bears the note "Not to postal proxies".
Why does this matter?
For virtual office users, the postal power of attorney is the legal basis on which the service provider can accept post. Without a deposited postal power of attorney, registered mail and RSb letters cannot be accepted. The power of attorney should be set up promptly after concluding the contract.
